A Level Maths
Maths is a highly respected A-Level; combining well with all academic and vocational options. Students who have completed an A-Level in maths are highly valued by universities and employers alike due to their increased numeracy and high level problem solving skills. Students with an A-Level in maths can expect to earn 10% more than those without it.
Students following a maths A-Level course at Walker will follow the AQA syallabus.
There will be 3 end of course exams, each 2 hours in length.
The course follows the 'core' content prescribed by all exam boards and universities.
Paper 1. Pure Maths
Students will extend their knowledge of algebra, graphs and trigonometry. They will also learn new calculus techniques for differentiation and integration.
Paper 2. Pure Maths & Mechanics
More content from pure mathematics, combined with mechanics; the applied mathematics of motion, forces and vectors. This will suit students interested in engineering or physical sciences.
Paper 3. Pure Maths & Statistics
More content from pure mathematics, combined with statistics; the applied mathematics of data and information. This will suit students interested in social or biological sciences, including Sociology, Geography and Psychology.
